Process for Applicants for Year 7

A.    Applications from students attending Government or Catholic Primary Schools are handled by the Primary School through the Transition Process.

The Primary School distributes all relevant information, application forms and timelines to all parents of students in Year 6.

Parents return the application form to the Primary School.

The Primary School forwards the application forms to Melbourne Girls’ College.

B.    Applications from students attending Independent Schools or from interstate are handled initially by the Northern Metropolitan Office. Information and application forms are available from the Northern Metropolitan Region's website www.nmr.vic.edu.au

  • Students are allocated a place at Melbourne Girls’ College in the following priority order:
  • Students for whom the school is the nearest one to their permanent residential address. To determine if we are your closests Government Secondary College please visit www.street-directory.com .au
  • Students with a sister who will be concurrently attending the school and who resides permanently at the same address

Following the above allocation, all additional applicants are invited to attend the college to complete an ‘Additional Information Sheet’ to fill remaining vacancies.

A transition enrolment panel then considers the applications and allocates applicants to the available places.

Notification of the allocation of a place will be carried out by the Primary School in the case of applicants from Government and Catholic Primary Schools or directly by the college in the case of applicants from interstate or the independent sector.
